Practice Areas

Our attorneys stay on top of the latest developments in the complex, ever-evolving area of employment law. And we regularly put our knowledge to use by providing our business clients with practical and effective legal counsel. We understand that our clients live in the real world. Our aim is to help them make decisions – both day-to-day and in exceptional situations – that achieve their business goals while minimizing the risk of litigation. We have extensive experience in a broad variety of employment matters, including:

  • Hiring and termination decisions, employee discipline, workforce reductions and severance agreements
  • State and federal anti-discrimination and wage and hour law compliance
  • Leave law compliance
  • Employment practices audits
  • Review of employment policies, including employee manuals and handbooks, electronic communications and social media policies, and document retention policies

Where litigation becomes necessary, we are available to provide zealous, results-oriented representation in proceedings before a range of courts and administrative tribunals, including all Massachusetts state and federal courts, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), and the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA).

Our firm has substantial experience in zoning and land use law, a complex area involving a tapestry of municipal, state and federal laws and regulations. We provide representation on a range of Massachusetts land use matters, including all construction and special permits, site plan approval, zoning district and historic preservation issues, easements, eminent domain proceedings and the like. We are well particularly well versed in the interpretation and application of what are frequently the most immediate sources of governmental authority in Massachusetts land matters – municipal zoning ordinances and regulations. When it comes to zoning and land use matters, our attorneys also have a proven litigation record. We have secured successful outcomes for our clients, including both private and municipal clients, in a variety of Massachusetts courts, including Superior Court and Land Court. We are also prepared to prosecute and defend all matters pending before any planning board, zoning board of appeals, or similar body in the Commonwealth.

Our firm provides legal advice and representation on a range of business matters including business organization, drafting of commercial contracts and leases, employment and labor law matters, and receivables collection. Our partners include former associates with leading national corporate law firms; they bring this commercial background to bear on all of the business matters our firm handles. We are also available to pursue our commercial clients’ interests before a variety of federal, state and local tribunals, boards, legislative bodies and agencies. From a litigation perspective, we have extensive experience litigating claims ranging from breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty, to fraud, Chapter 93A claims and the like.

In addition to the above, our firm is available to prosecute and defend a range of civil claims, including first amendment claims, tort and contract claims, professional license revocations and suspensions, landlord-tenant disputes, and many other non-criminal matters that call for courtroom representation.

United States immigration law is a particularly complicated and sometimes obscure practice area, fraught with potential pitfalls. Our firm offers immigration law-related legal guidance and representation to businesses and individuals, as well as to our fellow professionals. We have experience in all aspects of employment- and family- based immigration, including employment visas and job portability, global consular practice, and family-based petitions.

We also have extensive experience with all aspects of immigration-related litigation, and we are particularly proud of our excellent track record in complex criminal removal (deportation) proceedings before the federal immigration courts. We are available to handle removal proceedings throughout the country.
